Vienna Maryland – A Historic Village on the Nanticoke River
Encountered by Captain John Smith during his expeditions in 1608, and founded as a Maryland town in 1706, Vienna is believed by some to have been named after the Nanticoke Indian Emperor, Vnnacokossimmon. The Town of Vienna is situated at a place called “Emperor’s Landing”, along the Nanticoke River which connects to the Chesapeake Bay. With a current population of about 275, the town is run by a Mayor and two Town Commissioners. Visit ViennaMD.org for more about the Town.
Help Us Tell Vienna’s Stories through its Own Community Radio Station!
We already have the FCC permit, have raised over $6500 for the transmitter and antenna, but still need $4000 to buy the emergency alert system (EAS) required to launch Vienna’s own community radio station! Your gift of any size will add you to our permanent list of Vienna Radio Station Founders. A gift of $300 or more earns a spot on our scrolling banner below and on-air mention for the first year after the station goes live. You may also donate in someone’s memory. Just let us know!
